The graphics are not the newest but its still a game which can be very enjoyable because of the story. In addition you must save your game with small breaks because of the lack of autosave and of game over situations (fire in the woods or the stealth part) where you must load the last save you made. Because of this issue I had lots of replays because I forgot to save my game and I had to replay 3 hours of the game again.. Sherlock Holmes: The Silver Earring was overall a very enjoyable puzzle adventure game. The game begins with the death of a wealthy businessman and leaves you to investigate the scene. The game will then take you to multiple connected locations as you attempts to piece together the murder and uncover the assassin and the motive for the murder. The game is set over 5 days of investigations and each day will have you visit a location and search it for clues and solve one or two puzzles with ranging difficulties (some puzzles were quite hard and confusing), at the end of each day you will summarise your findings in a quiz, which for me was probably the hardest part of the game. I found the story to be quite engaging and interesting overall with a good range of characters and locations and was well suited to a Sherlock story. Overall 'Sherlock Holmes: The Silver Earring' was a good solid adventure game which presented a well written story and some good puzzles, taking around 9 - 10 hours to complete and with a very conclusive ending I would highly recommend it for adventure game enthusiasts. 8.5\/10. A complete farcry from the 1st game. Better graphics, better voice acting, better gameplay and the use of music from actual classical composers. You get quizzes at the end, it may annoy most but it's a murder mystery, it makes you pay attention to the details and use your brain.. If you get easily salty cos of bad game mechanics then you shouldn't play this game. In general I'd suggest everyone to play this game with a walkthrough of it, so everytime when you get stuck you can check the walkthrough and progress further in the game. I play a lot of detective games and I got stuck a lot of times in this game, cos sometimes you literally have to find a bunch of hair somewhere which you can super easily overlook. And if you reach the point in the game where you have to sneak past a guard and the guard dog: SAVE IMMEDIATELY! Because if you fail to sneak past them, the investigation is over and you have to re-load a save. Since this game does not have autosave, it has happened to me that I forgot to save for quite a while, got caught by the guards and lost progress of almost an hour. And if you reach the point where you're in a forest which is kind of like a maze: SAVE IMMEDIATELY AGAIN! Because the same thing will happen again if you fail this mission. Some of the puzzles did not make any sense to me, even with the help of the walkthrough. And the story can get super confusing at one point cos it's connected with so many side stories and I gotta admit that I lost track of what was happening halfway through the game. Still played it until the end cos I wanted to know who the murderer was. All in all the game wasn't bad. Some mechanics were weird, some puzzles didn't make sense and the story is confusing but it still was an experience and fun to play through it. I'd say buy it when it's on sale so you won't regret spending the whole amount on it (let's be honest, the price is too high). You can finish it within 8-10 hours.. Despite the game being old, it doesn't feel dated at all. It works OK, the resolution is up to 1600x1200 but what can you do and the story is totally amazing!! Lots of plot twists bring you to false conclusions about everything. It's a Sherlock Holmes classic this one.. This was the first Sherlock Holmes game I played years ago which sent me playing and waiting for all others.I played it again now and it was fun to be reminded of a different detective game.In this game you are truely placed in the shoes of a detective where you don't even know all actions of holmes himself. You need to pay attention to everything, every detail, even something that seem trivial.A brilliant way to do a detective game.I wish the somewhat kept this formulae in "The Devil's Daughter" instead of turning to a more acion based game
